speaker Doug Ernst, Publisher of the paper. He had previously served on the staff of the Napa Register and in fact still lives in Napa.
He is getting to know and like St. Helena. Doug is interested in hearing from all of us when we have a suggestion for a story or some other information which might be useful. He
wants the paper to be local serving and reflective of the needs of the community. |

Running for Health, Fitness, Sport, and Survival
By Steve YostKathleen Patterson ran our meeting of March 9th for President Phil

John Sales told the club about the financial needs of the Rotoplast group who will soon be leaving for Guatemala. As a result of his
short and inspirational presentation the usual list of members was passed around and $1,825 was pledged … our club is incredibly generous!Don Scully
announced a recreational/fitness committee is being formed which will lead us hopefully to better health. At the raffle Rex Stults failed to pick the black marble.
There was no Fine Master but BELLRINGERS included:
- Tim Coon
- his son's basketball triumphs.
- Visitor/former Rotarian Don Fraser is working on the Snoopy Museum and is promoting physical fitness.
- Tony Albright
is now the sole owner of Doran's Printing.
RUNNING IN LITERATURE Suzan Rada introduced guest speakers Roger Robinson and his wife Kathrine Switzer who then educated us by
explaining why running/walking is so important for survival, physical health, and mental health. Roger has run numerous marathons (26 miles) and wrote the book Running in Literature
. Kathrine not only was the first woman to run the Boston Marathon in 1963 but also has her own book entitled Running and Walking for Women Over 40.
This reporter got so wrapped up in their presentation that notes were not taken so you will have to go and buy the books -- please contact Suzan. |
