Rotary Meeting Notes -- July 9, 2002
by Colin Ware President Jeff Epps
rang in the meeting by welcoming visiting Rotarians from Hamburg, Germany. After an exchange of Rotary Banners, the Welcome Singers recognized the upcoming week's birthdays, Lisa Marie Andersen, and
wedding anniversaries, Wendell and Susan Dinwiddie and Bob and Janet Lamborn. Joice Beatty
was the week's finemaster, posting "wanted" posters of some of St. Helena's most notorious Rotarians. Little did we know the double lives lived by Tim Doran, Dave Brotemarkle, David Gold and
Jake Scheideman, all conspicuously absent from the meeting ... But it was not all fun and games. Paul Krsek rang the bell to celebrate his recent wedding in Fiji. Alan Fowler
followed immediately, topping Paul, celebrating the 53 rolls of film that Paul brought back from Fiji for developing, and Lisa Marie Andersen shared with all that she was expecting.

The week's program featured Lanna Nakone, an Organizational Consultant working
in the Valley. Lanna shared some thoughts and ideas about staying organized in this hectic world. Did you know that Americans spent well over 9 million minutes last
year looking for things? In addition to creating cluttered homes and work spaces, not being organized also tends to clutter up the mind, stifling creativity and
seriously hampering productivity. Apart from some of the obvious -- writing down your commitments -- Lanna suggested some tactics a little less obvious, such as
saving files in electronic format and doing away with all but the most important paper files, committing to stopping procrastinating and spending time on the 20% of
your job that tends to produce 80% of the results. Disorganized folks can hire Lanna, or any of her colleagues at the National Association of Organizing Consultants to
help them fight the entropy of day-to-day life and commerce. Lanna works in the Napa Valley and is available for both home and business consultations. The club adjourned into the hot July afternoon.
